LAKEVIEW GOLF COMMUNITY UPDATE - July 12, 2007

GOLF COURSE TAKING SHAPE

We recently acquired an additional 5.5 acres located on General DeGaulle near the old driving range. This additional property will give us even more flexibility with our plans.

Lakewood in the New Orleans Times Picayune, July 12, 2007, "Lakewood Upgrade A Work in Progress."

Renovations are well underway on the golf course at Lakewood.  We envision opening the course to the public in the Fall, 2008.  Lakewood promises to be one of the region's finest golf destinations.  The course is 18 holes, Class A, 6,800 yards, par 72 with a practice facility designed by respected course architect, Ron Garl.

We expect to start laying grass over holes 16, 17, and 18 at the end of August on the north side of the course near General DeGaulle and Lennox.

Other signs of progress:

  • 11 lakes constructed

  • Norman Canal closed

  • State of the art drainage system contains all runoff on the property

  • Ron Garl practice facilities to be constructed

Lakewood Restoration Partners has begun redeveloping the property into a 180-acre golf community featuring a Class A golf course, 4 star luxury hotel, conference center, golf villas, condominiums, retirement village, office suites, restaurants and specialty retail. The council gave final approval to a conditional use permit for the mixed use development, including a zoning change from RS-1 (residential) to C-1 (commercial).   Details of the proposed golf community include:

• Golf  – 18 holes, Class A, 6800 yards, par 72, public-access course with a first-class practice facility

• Conference Center – 25,000 square foot meeting space

• Condominiums – 518 units on the property, with fairway views

• Hotel - a 250 room, 4-star hotel adjacent to a state-of-the-art golf club house

• Golf Villas – 16 units with a 4000 square foot gathering space

• Retirement Village –192 living units, gated card access, upscale

• Retail – 30,000 square feet in a village like setting with restaurants, specialty retail shops, beautifully landscaped

• Office – 10,000 square foot office suites

Nationally known golf course designer Ron Garl will upgrade the course by modernizing fairways, tee boxes and greens. In addition, special attention will be paid to  preserving the existing park-like setting. Garl has designed award-winning golf courses around the country, including the course at Money Hill Plantation in Abita Springs, rated as one of Golf Digest’s Top Ten Best New Private Courses for 1999. Golf Digest also selected Money Hill as the #1 course in Louisiana three times since 1999.

Fairway views enjoyed by adjoining homeowners will be preserved. Additionally, the site is large enough to ensure wide buffer zones and setbacks between proposed facilities and residential areas.
